- Deleting a page is not the same as redacting it. Removing a page removes it. Drawing a black box over text in some editors leaves the text underneath, still selectable and searchable — an error that has ended careers.
- Scanned PDFs are images, not text. A scan has no text layer until OCR adds one, which is why searching a scanned contract finds nothing even though you can plainly read the words.
